Terms of Service

These terms govern use of smartdrivehealt.live and the reference material it publishes. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Purpose

Purpose of the site

SMART Drive Health provides informational content about S.M.A.R.T. attributes and drive diagnostics. That includes the reference database covering Seagate, WD, Toshiba, Samsung, Kingston, and Crucial attribute mappings, the explanatory articles for Reallocated Sectors Count, Current Pending Sector, Power-On Hours, and Temperature, the threshold tables published next to each of those attributes, and the client-side calculator that scores a drive from values you type in yourself.

All of it is educational. It is not professional data-recovery, engineering, or hardware-service advice, and reading a page here does not create any kind of service relationship. If a drive holds data you cannot lose, talk to a recovery specialist before you run anything else against it.

Accuracy

No warranty

The site and its content are provided as is. No warranty is made that the content is complete, current, or accurate for every drive model or firmware version. Manufacturer behavior and attribute mappings change over time, and the site may not reflect every change.

Attribute IDs are a good example. Two vendors can expose the same numeric ID with different names, different raw encoding, or a different normalised range, and the same vendor can shift behavior between firmware revisions. When a value on your drive does not line up with the reference table, trust the manufacturer tool and the drive's own documentation first, and treat our explanation as a starting point rather than a verdict.

Calculator

Use of the calculator

The drive health calculator interprets values you enter. It runs in your browser and does not read your hardware, contact your drive, or send your numbers anywhere. Whatever score it returns is a reading of the figures you supplied — not a measurement taken from the device.

Because of that, the calculator cannot guarantee the safety or condition of any drive. It has no way to detect a failing controller, a dying power supply, or a firmware bug that only shows up under load. Decisions to keep, back up, or replace a drive are yours to make, and a healthy score is not a reason to skip a backup.

  • Your input, your accuracy. Copy raw values exactly as the manufacturer tool reports them, including the raw column where one is shown. Rounding or re-typing from memory changes the result.
  • A snapshot, not a trend. Health is a direction, not a single reading. Re-check the same attributes after a week of normal use and compare, because one elevated count matters far less than a count that keeps climbing.
  • Low scores are a prompt, not a diagnosis. If the result looks poor, back up first and investigate second. Attribute tables, not the score alone, tell you which subsystem is complaining.

Responsibility

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, SMART Drive Health is not liable for data loss, hardware damage, or other losses arising from reliance on the content or tools on this site. Backing up important data is the user's responsibility.

That includes choices you make after reading a guide or running the calculator — replacing a drive that was still fine, retiring one that was not, or continuing to use hardware whose attributes suggested it should come out of service. Nothing here extends the manufacturer's own warranty, and no page on this site should be treated as a substitute for it.

Content rights

Intellectual property

Site content, including the attribute database and guides, is protected by applicable law. You may use it for personal reference — checking your own drives, comparing model behavior, or reading up before a purchase.

Republishing it as your own reference product requires prior permission. That covers lifting the attribute tables, the threshold figures, or the guide text into another site, an app, or a paid tool. Quoting a short passage with a link back to the source page is fine and welcome.

Conduct

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the site, attempt to disrupt it, or submit content that is unlawful or misleading. Corrections should be submitted in good faith — if a threshold row does not match what you see in your own vendor tool, say which drive, which firmware, and which reading you got, and it can actually be checked.

Do not post files, link to downloads, or run automated requests against the site. The calculator runs locally in your browser and needs no account, so nothing here asks for a login, an installer, or a drive serial number.

Names and marks

Third-party names

Seagate, Western Digital, Toshiba, Samsung, Kingston, Crucial, and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners. They are used here for identification and comparison only, and their use does not imply affiliation or endorsement.

The same applies to drive-model names and firmware designations mentioned in the database and in the manufacturer notes. If you own one of these marks and something on the site misrepresents your product, contact us and it will be reviewed.

Updates

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
